Haley Anderson is an American competitive swimmer who is an Olympic silver medalist. She placed second in the 10-kilometer open water event at the 2012 Summer Olympics. She is the first American to earn an Olympic medal in open water swimming.

Race results – 2019 (18th) FINA World Championships in Gwangju South Korea

Haley’s most recent victory was a silver medal in the 2019 World Aquatics Championships held in Gwangju, South Korea from 12 to 28 July 2019. She finished second (Sunday July 14) in the 10k open water race at the 18th FINA World Championships in South Korea, turning in a time of 1 hour, 54 minutes and 48.1 seconds.

Haley thus became one of the first two American swimmers to qualify for the US Olympic Team in the 10k open water race at the 2020 Games in Tokyo.

The other US qualifier is Ashley Twichell, who finished 6th in the same 10k open water race with a time of 1:54:50.5.

Finishing first in Sunday’s race was Xin Xin of China in 1:54:47.2. Rachelle Bruni of Italy was third in 1:54:49.9.

In the 2017 Lifespan 007 Open Water Festival held at James Bond Beach in Oracabessa Jamaica, Haley won the 5km swim with a time of 1hr 9 minutes 57 seconds 3 hundredths (1:09.57.03).
